From the moment I walked into The Raw Kitchen in Fremantle, I knew the Rock Your Goals Perth workshop was going to be a special night.
The venue was gorgeous, spacious, beautifully lit and had such a welcoming vibe.
My beautiful friend Bree and I arrived at the same time as amazing photographer Hannah, and were warmly welcomed by the lovely Sascha from The Raw Kitchen.
We talked excitedly as we unpacked the workshop goodies and started setting up the big, communal table.
As Hannah whisked me outside for some quick headshots it started to drizzle and not even a little rain (and the threat of some seriously frizzy hair) could wipe the smile off my face.
It was workshop night, and my guests were on their way.
Back inside, the beautiful Claire and Sammy from Jane & Jones Flower Co. arrived with the cutest selection of flowers you ever did see.
And as we put the finishing touches on the final place setting, my first few guests arrived in a gaggle of laughter, smiles and happy chatter.
I welcomed them with great big hugs (it’s just how I roll) and tried to remember everyone’s name for introductions (thank goodness for name tags!).
By the time the last guest arrived there were 18 incredible women around the table and we were ready to rock our goals.
I started the night with a loving welcome and we took a few moments to breathe in the balancing aromas of beautiful essential oils, centre ourselves and ‘leave the day at the door’.
I thanked my beautiful guests for taking time to come along; time for themselves, time for their goals and plans.
I thanked all of the wonderful people, businesses and brands who so generously offered their time, products and services to help make the event special.
And then I took a little time to introduce myself.
I’ve always been an open book, and at my workshops I keep it raw and real as I share my story, my past and the particular moments that made me decide, with every fibre of my being, that it was time for change.
I believe that by sharing in an honest and transparent way it gives others permission to embrace their own story and be vulnerable without fear. And this is one of my aims at the Rock Your Goals workshops; to give the women who come along permission – to be themselves, to embrace their truth and to feel safe and supported to explore their own vision for a bright and beautiful future.
Once I’ve shared my own story and intentions for the evening (connection, support and fun) I go around the table and ask my guests to share a little about themselves; perhaps their own story, or one of the reasons they came to the event, or even their intention for the evening.
While it often gets hearts pounding and butterflies fluttering in stomachs, I believe that sharing our stories is what unites us, and at every event, as we go around the table, there are nodding heads, reassuring smiles and ‘me too’ moments that bring us together and bind us in comfort, compassion and connection.
Once the last lovely lady had introduced herself, it was time for some goal rocking and over the course of the evening we worked through 10 key activities together, designed to help my beautiful guests feel clear, inspired and supported to create an action plan so they can bring their beautiful goals to life.
As we dived into the goal rocking part of the evening, I introduced each activity, sprinkling in plenty of personal stories and what I lovingly call “Sarah waffle”, and then my guests had time to explore their own thoughts and feelings in their Rock Your Goals workbook.
As the night progressed, we fell into comfortable conversation, shared lots of laughs and gave life to incredible goals and dreams.
We ate mouth-wateringly divine food, handmade with love by the team at The Raw Kitchen.
On the menu for the Rock Your Goals Perth Workshop were their delectable pizza slices (seriously, no BS, THE BEST PIZZA I’VE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE, and it was RAW) and their delicious raw cakes and slices (no surprises for those who know me that my favourite was the chocolate slice!).
By the end of the night my beautiful guests had some wonderful new friends, a notebook full of dreams and an exciting plan to rock their goals.
We wrapped the workshop with celebratory party poppers, a group photo and more hugs.
As the guests trickled out and we started to tidy up I felt calm, content, and so very blessed.
Not too long ago this workshop was just a seed of an idea which became an exciting (but scary) goal, and sometimes I still can’t believe that it’s come to life in such a beautiful way.
My dream was to create an event where women could come together in a safe, welcoming, open space and leave ‘should’, ‘have to’ and ‘obligation’ at the door for the night. Where they could tune back into their true self, their pure passion, their joy and their light.
I wanted to create an event which would allow these wonderful women to make time for themselves and give themselves permission to do something that’s not only just for them and all about them, but that would help them start to make small changes in their day to day life so they could move towards their big, beautiful dreams.
To come together at these events and celebrate these women; to guide them to embrace their inner awesome, acknowledge their own potential and consciously create their own future, is a gift I’m grateful for every single day.
Not only am I rocking my own lofty goals, but I’m able to help other women do the same.
The Rock Your Goals Perth workshop was a wonderful evening with an incredibly inspiring group of women who are each changing their world (and the world around them) one goal at a time. I couldn’t be more proud, honoured and humbled to be even a small part of that.
So, to each and every lovely lady who said yes to herself, purchased her ticket, shared the evening with me and did the work; I honour you, I appreciate you and I say thank you. You rock.
